The crime action film, also featuring Sara Ali Khan in the lead role, has earned A$ 180,253 (Rs 88.58 lakh) on its opening day at the Australian box-office to become Shetty’s highest-opening film in the country ever. Simmba has beaten films Golmaal Again (2017), Dilwale (2015), Singham Returns (2014) and Chennai Express (2013) to grab the coveted spot.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the business figures on Twitter on Saturday.
